Hi, I'm Adalberto.
I'm a Software Engineer at Lyft, from Guadalajara and working from Guadalajara, open to being anywhere. San Francisco is probably next. I build backend systems, the parts of software most people never see, and I like understanding how those parts hold together as things grow.
Away from the keyboard I train, study Japanese, read a lot, and drink more coffee than I should. I bring the same discipline to all of it. This site is where I share how it's going.
Not a straight line
My first code came from a friend who invited me onto a mechatronics project. I studied mechatronics, so software, electronics and physical systems were one discipline for me, and that still shapes how I think. During the pandemic I started coding more, and I loved the journey enough to make it the job.
From there: enterprise databases and migrations, then Django and data platforms, a couple of consultancies, and Lyft since 2024. Python the whole way. Before any of that I coached CrossFit as a teenager and competed through university, which is where the habit of showing up every day comes from.

Five things I believe
- 01 Write clear documentation. The system lives longer than anyone's memory of it.
- 02 Coding is also about human interactions. Most hard problems are conversations before they are code.
- 03 Code should be human-readable and understandable. The machine is not the audience.
- 04 Start early, take action, be a master of corrections. A first version you can fix beats a plan you can't test.
- 05 Discipline is freedom. Training taught me this before engineering did.
A place to share, not to sell
I wanted a space to share what I do and how it's going without the pressure of a pitch. No claims, no numbers dressed up as achievements. What I'm building, what I'm learning, what I'm reading, one line at a time, for anyone who wants to follow along. If something here resonates, that's the whole point.

Set in Source Serif 4 on plain paper, with as little JavaScript as it takes. Python underneath: FastAPI serves Jinja2 templates, and Tailwind, Alpine.js and HTMX load from a CDN, so there is no build step. There is no database either. Built to be rewritten as the seasons change.
